Stephen George

Producer/Mixer/Engineer

Stephen George a/k/a Stevo, began his career in the music business as a local Chicago musician. Today, his name appears on over 100 million records sold. He has earned close to fifty gold & platinum records along with numerous Grammy awards/nominations.

In 1980 Al Jourgensen formed Ministry teaming up with George on drums. In Î81 they released ãCold Lifeä on the legendary Wax Trax Records. The following year Clive Davis signed Ministry to his Arista label. By Î84 George formed his own band Colortone, playing drums, producing, engineering and co-writing their debut LP on Pasha/CBS Records. Throughout the 80âs, George played drums on numerous major label releases, including the Carsâ Ric Ocasek and Go Goâs Jane Wiedlinâs solo projects.

1989 - 1998 Stephen worked as Chief Engineer at Zomba / Jiveâs Battery Studios Chicago, during this time George perfected his craft at making hit records, then entering into the world as one of the most prominent and in demand creative talents in the industry. At Battery, George worked with some of the biggest artists and producers of the time, including Zombaâs founder Clive Calder, Jiveâs VP of A&R Wayne Williams, Hula & Fingers, Mr. Lee, John Porter and copious others. 1994 ö 98 found Stephen, traveling the world, working exclusively as R. Kellyâs programmer, mixer and engineer.

1998 George moves to New York City to expand his career· and that he does, working with some of the worlds finest producers and artists, from Hip Hop to Pop, R&B to Gospel and back to Rock: Lil Jon, Max Martin, Luther Vandross, The McClurkins, Ric Ocasek, and Maroon 5 to name a few. Still mixing records for Zomba, but now working with every major label and numerous independentâs on countless records.

Recently, Stephen has relocated from Manhattan to New Yorkâs Hudson Valley, situated in a refurbished barn a little over 1.5 hours north of Manhattan and 20 minutes south of Woodstock, nestled between the Catskill Mountains to the north and Shawangunk Mountains to the east. Stephen has started ãGimme That Sound Productionsä a full fledged mixing, recording and production facility, where he continues to mix and produce for outside clients, as well as develop new acts, releasing them on his own label ãGimme That Sound Recordsä.
